Election 2012: Will The President Elect And Congress Do What’s Right?

So the votes are in. President Obama has won re-election. So where do we go from here?

It’s my hope that we can get congress to work together with the President to finally do what is right for the American people.

I’m afraid that we have become so divided in this country that we can’t work out our differences. And who suffers? Not Washington.

Shouldn’t this be our time to show the rest of the world that we can work together? We can unite as one nation, one people? Work together for the good of all men, woman and children? No matter what your sexual orientation or economic status is?

You can not continue to let the corporate elite dictate the plight of human beings. We have family’s to feed too. You can’t continue to walk all over the little guy and get away with it. It’s inhumane. It’s not what this country was founded on.

In order for us the return to the great nation that we are capable of being,  we need all of it folks to do their fair share. You can’t put the burden on one group of people. As we have seen through these elections we expect all citizens to do their fair share.

You can’t keep cutting programs that help people not as fortunate as yourselves. It’s not what a moral conscience does.  It’s not what compassionate people do. You can’t just toss people to the wolves and say, “fend for yourself”. What kind of human being does that to a fellow-man?

We are all supposed to be one in this country. Lets get back to being one nation.

Lets stop the finger-pointing. Lets stop the dissension. Lets end the divide. Come together and be as one. Don’t you think the rest of the world is watching and laughing at us. You can bet your sweet ass they are.

Aren’t you tired of the fighting yet Washington?

Can’t you turn your pockets inside-out and shake those special interest groups out of your pockets?

Do what is humanly and morally right for the rest of us. Were tired of carrying the weight. Our backs are broken from the last mess you left us with. We’re tired. We need help.

Our kids need education if you want us to succeed. They need good education with good teachers. They shouldn’t have to worry where the money is going to come from. The shouldn’t have to work in the private sector for ten years to pay off the debt from college. They can’t afford to pay the tuition. Sorry Mitt. They can’t ask mom and dad for the money, they don’t have it.

We need Washington to bet on American business. American jobs. Not ship them over seas for the “bottom line”. We are hard working people. Proud people. But we need a level playing field. Not one that tilts in the favor of big business.

We need Corporate America to pay American taxes, not find places for big business to hide profits.

We need you to believe in us for a change. We won’t let you down. Just give us a chance. The chance your privileged kids have. Give the disadvantaged a shot at that education for once.

Don’t look down on us. You’re the ones who cut the programs not us. Sure, there are a select few who will play the system. But the majority of us are good, working class people. All we ask is for a fair shot before we hear, “see, I told you so”. One played on a level playing field. Don’t rig the damn game on us. Don’t handcuff us.

I’m sorry. I have to believe that my President will be able to get things done in his second term. I have to stand behind him, my President. Just as I have done and, will continue to do with my President’s in the future.  I believe in America. It’s the greatest Nation in the world. Try living outside her borders.
